Everything is seemingly as it is, and as it seems to us while waking up in the morning: the Fortress, the Danube Sea, the roofs of Petrovaradin, sobbing under sediments of years, the snow in close encounter with the cold, January, gray, freezing river, the granite of the Varadin Rock... The Fortress recurs in photographs of Martin Candir as a stranded ship, like Noah's Ark on the invisible summit of Ararat, anchored forever. Is it possible that the Fortress of Varadin resembles Toledo; is it possible that we are concerned with the interior verticality of the unique Gibraltar on the Grand Danube: the God-given City, where the Rainbow is not a witty remark of the Photographer, but a metaphor of some inner sense. The Experiential Zone of light and dream?
