CVEJANOVIĆ Igor

CVEJANOVIC IgorPainter

Born in Novi Sad, in the long gone year 1969.
In the beginning, there was Light, the Danube, the Mountain, Snow, the Sun. He walked through the Petrovaradin Fortress when he was less than two years old. He learned how to ski and swim on his own, when he was 3 – 4 (thrown into water from the raft, put on the skis and pushed downhill). Later, when he finished the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, everything seemed different to him. Travels, exhibitions, wherever he arrived and managed to come, he was looking at girls with rich hair, beautiful lips, cat eyes, the girls he kissed. And made love to, wherever he went.

He received many awards, here and there.
He loves a small, dark girl. He likes to sculpt. He likes to paint and draw. He loves life, he loves to watch the Sun, the river, the sea, the nature – he loves to enjoy it.

Now he understands that everything is as it was before, except that there is more love in himself.
Perpetuum mobile – in the labyrinth, oil on canvas, 130x100, 2000

Machine – an assembly of elements adjusted to a specific function. Machine individually – part of the system intended for a specific human activity. Human activities individually – part of the security system of human existence.  Human existence, dependent upon elements of the system, elements of the Machine and its functions. Man, a functional element – an individual, part of a unique system, in his struggle to satisfy personal interest, causes dysfunction of the created system. The system – machine that operates regardless of dysfunction of its basic elements, produces defective products, easily replaceable, because the machine produces them in large quantities and counts with their consumable nature.  In the secret Library of the Fortress, the Library known for its ability to move from night to night into another room, no one knows how, so that only Book Fanatics can find it, a number of theories has been elaborated about the meaning of life and death, about the purpose and function of man, machine, conditions and phenomena. The theories replace each other every night in the same way the Library changes the room, and each of them, at the moment of its creation, appears true and correct. One of the Library's Theoreticians, Igor Cvejanović, in reply to the complex question of "Quality? Quantity?" – which has logically resulted from previously mentioned Theory – says that "in the machine/system, or as part of the system or part of the machine or an element, man functions more and more automatically, satisfying the external form;  does he posses the wondering of his inner form, the spirituality of his self?" Wondering about himself, about the labyrinth of his own subtle feelings, emotions, love, tolerance, adjustment to other people, to nature, the genuine archetype of human existence. Wondering about the system, about that monumental labyrinth, and about endeavors exercised to harmonize one's own labyrinth with the labyrinth of the system and survival inside it. Every day, Igor Cvejanović passes through the labyrinth of the Petrovaradin Fortress, getting entirely used to it, and walks out onto the sunny platform with vibrating air and glimmering Sun, which gives him the feeling of timelessness or universality of time, the feeling of transience or continuity. Perpetuum mobile, always moving, always relative, changeable, climbing up the spiral stairway toward the place where the Moon meets the Sun.
