Still Life with Angel
| "Đava" [shortened 'Tvrđava', the Fortress] has reclined over the sunny Petra Rock, mirroring in the hasty azure of the Danube, so as to gain a panoramic view of all the four sides of the world. For a long time, it was militant, distrustful. It used to growl, scratch, swagger on that Rock. Standing up very high. Several centuries had to pass before this Belle could make her ninth life last forever. She made her mind. She would open her gates! She is old, and maybe in her old age, the artists and friendly visitors will make her life richer. It has already been half a century since the Artists put a spell on the Đava. She purrs! Tame and lovable. She purrs, and Nada Đurović-Nedeljković loves to listen to that golden sound. |
