Born in Crvenka in 1962.
Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad - Painting Department (1994). Has been mounting one-man shows since 1986. Took part in many national and international group exhibitions.
He lives and works in Novi Sad.
One-man exhibitions: Novi Sad, Keiserslautern, Heidelberg, Belgrade, Vrbas, Kula, Sveti Stefan, Bar, Podgorica, Subotica, Paris, Bečići, Vršac, Saint Gallen, Sombor.
Awards: First prize of the Vrbas Autumn Salon (1989); First prize of the Atrium Gallery, Belgrade (1994); University of Novi Sad Award for best achievement in art, Novi Sad (1994) and First prize of Nikola Tesla topical exhibition, Zrenjanin (1995).

| Central motive of the painting is man in urban milieu - diabolic and divided, between the urban consumer animal and the spiritual human being, often the victim of his own space, his spiritual and mental projections; as a result of this dualism the painting itself is defined by the contrasts: light vs dark, vertical vs horizontal, erotic vs shapeless, natural vs synthetic. My painting is an attempt to eternalize a segment of a moment, one marked by my personaloption for transience. I do not copy the reality, but, as a dumb witness, I show that, in the ocean of similar people, without the possibility of communication, man is infinitely alone. My intention was to create a picture of a clear psychological construction, in which the spectator outside the picture would have a feeling of participation in the depicted scene of alienation – often looking at a female figure, with her back turned to the viewerthe, stopped by the glitter of shop windows, as a warning blurred memory of the Paradise lost in consequence to fashion dictate and addiction technology. These modern Venuses and Salomes, dressed in business suits and jeans, remind us of the archetype of insatiable thirst after the ideal and of Theophrastus' words that beauty is a silent deception – says Radovan Jokić. |
