It has been recorded: on 5 August 1716, near the Fortress, at Tekije, a battle was waged between the Austrian army, commanded by Eugene of Savoy, and the huge Turkish army. It was also recorded: that August was hot, but in the middle of the battle, it began to snow. It was also recorded who won the battle, but in the history that faded away; it is not important any more, either for the winner, or for the defeated.  The former thought it to be a bad omen; the latter, however, believed it was a good sign (that was how the Church of Virgin Mary of the Snowfall came into being). Neither of the warring sides thought it was a sign telling them that the Fortress was stuck in time and space exactly to prove the absurdness of the war. Nevertheless, Bojan Kiridžić thought about it wondering what the purpose of the war was, when the natural state of the spirit was - peace. Aspiration creates the critical mass, which actually moves the world. In the same way, the Creators of the Fortress knew that although it was constructed for war, it would actually become a promenade for Lovers: it is proved also by the illusion of time materialized in the 'reversed' Clock Tower and by the persuasive words of Bojan Kiridžić that the Fortress, after all, is a convincing metaphor of the human crucifixion between longing and realization; between  movement and standstill in eternity.
