Sculptor
Born in 1946 in Bački Petrovac, in a Slovak-Russian family. His father Stevan and mother Olga were teachers. The Rovnjev family belonged to outstanding Russian nobility, and manifested talents for visual arts. They arrived in this region in 1920. Vladimir finished primary school, Secondary School of Civil Engineering and Advanced School of Pedagogy (Visual Arts Dept.) in Novi Sad by 1970. He worked as a teacher until 1976, then became an independent artist. His pursuits include sculpture, applied arts, painting, poetry and music. Since 1999 up to the present day, he has been experimenting between sculpture, poetry, music and development of spiritual energy. In 1979, he published an LP album with his own compositions on environmental themes (released by RTB company).
He was one of the world's pioneers in acoustic sculptures. Since 1980, he has performed a number of concerts, exhibitions, incidental music for radio, television, theatre and film. He is author of and participant in numerous one-man and group exhibitions and concerts in the country and abroad.
Multiple awardee at public contests and exhibitions at home and in foreign countries. He is author of many memorial emblems, coats-of-arms, medallions, badges, decorations, as well as architectural – interior spatial designs. All of these have been blended in his design of the Yugoslav Army's insignia.
His latest cycle of multidisciplinary creations named “OMFAL” and “SVAR”, that have been in progress since 1996, as the first of the kind anywhere, represents acoustic – energy – light forms, that activate not only our sensual, but also the extra-sensual perception. This form of creative work takes us to a modified state of consciousness, and permanently transforms the graphic and spatial form, keeping it in a parallel dimension that we can "SEE" by our extra-sensual perception.

| Some people say that the Fortress is not (just) simply – a building, but also an acoustic & light energy form, the effect of which (always) activates both the sensual and extra sensual perception. In this way, the Fortress takes its inhabitants into a modified state of consciousness; it transforms them and keeps them in a parallel dimension. Their mind increases its volume that can no longer be kept between the toe and the top, between the navel and the buttocks. There are people who exist in this state, BUT ARE NOT CONSCIOUS OF IT; Vladimir Labat, on the contrary, knows that Cult is the top of the mind, a decision to act and create that unites the super-material/divine and the eternal with the earthly and the transient. Vladimir Labat knows that the toe of the mind is civilization that collects treasures. One of the Fortress Laws says: Unless you respect measure and equilibrium, the toes will destroy the top of your head! And the Comment reads: They exterminate Those on the Other Side, the Crazy Ones who reject Treasure with measure and give priority to the divine; it causes an interruption and inflow of new potentials from the Source of the Crazy Ones, who, united, create the symbols of the divine and integrate the harmony of contradiction between the profane and the heavenly into the Fortress. |
