MILIĆ Svetlana
'manual labourer in cultural field'
"My name is Svetlana Milić. I am 184 cm high and weigh 67 kg. I wear '- 3' prescription glasses. My favourite movie directors are Wim Wenders and Andrey Tarkovsky. I adore Japanese cuisine. I do not posses a car because I like to walk. I believe in God's presence in all of us. I have quit smoking. Today is Wednesday and it is raining. I would like my man to keep the umbrella for me while I walk around this city. I have a deep voice, and I am very direct in communication. My work is direct, too. I have a boy for a husband, and a little daughter called Mia. I live both in Trieste and Novi Sad. I miss my friends… My friend Bora, who lives in Canada, and a boy called Miloš, who lives in Belgade, and my friend Spomenka, who lives in England. Fullstop. I miss them much. Fullstop.
My work:
I cannot say I'm a sculptor or a painter… Artistic media have mingled and my work is the mirror of various requirements. All I do is defined by the place I live in, from time to time. And by people. For me, energy that I "lay" into all of my works is very important. I know that it travels through the world of wave transmission over God's wide-open spaces."

| The Fortress, like a nice host, opens its home door and hosts all those received, and then, escorts them – to the world. One February morning, the Fortress escorted Svetlana as well, to Rome. And, in the same way the Fortress shows the best of itself, enchanting you within a single moment, it also hides, very skillfully, its parasite spirit and insatiability of its nearly live organism that feeds on the noble spirit of its inhabitants – transforming them into spiritless, emptied and mean inhabitants of an invented and imaginary town that like a cloud hovers over Novi Sad... Although self-indulgent and difficult – it calls everybody who has visited it just once, to come back; and it keeps its inhabitants with a secret power that does not let them leave their wet and damp studios. And outside, the wonderful world, full of changes, movement and light, embraces all those who come out of that intoxication. |
