MIŠKOV Živojin
Born in 1925 in Kovilj.
Educated in Kovilj, Srpski Itebej, Novi Sad and Zrenjanin. He finished Academy of Applied Arts-Painting Department, in Belgrade. On 31 January 1965, started to work in his studio at the Petrovaradin Fortress.
| It would be quite ridiculous to talk about the years when people for the fist time started to live on the Petrovaradin Rock: what does the number of fifteen or nineteen thousand years mean to a mortal man, with his short lifetime? We know nearly everything about the years of the Fortress and it would be impossible to insert among them only one human life. However, when we know that at this very moment the painter Živojin Miškov can say that he has been living on the Fortress for nearly four decades, and that during all these years, from the walls and large plateaus, he has been observing the changes of seasons over the hills of Fruška Gora, over the huge plain of Bačka, or even closer, and how during these years he has seen uncountable number of the Danubes pounding the foothills of the Fortress, creating two sharp bends, as if it wants each time to embrace the Rock, then we definitely face the truth that the world is mortal and transient, and the Fortress eternal: exactly the same as every moment of this World is captured forever on the canvases of Miškov, the Fortress also keeps millions of glances, stopped forever, on each of You, millions of moments, kept forever, the moments in which nobody else is the main hero but – You in person! |
