NONIN Miroslav
Born on the Petrovaradin Fortress in 1959.
Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 1983. Works at the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. In addition to painting and conservation, pursues icon-painting.
Became member of ULUV in 1988. Exhibited at more than 40 group shows.
One-man shows: Novi Sad (3), Beočin and Apatin.

The Fortress all around him and he around the Fortress. Miroslav Nonin happened to be born here. Just here, on the upper plateau. His parents lived at the Fortress at that time. They had everything here: their home, the work, the studio. The Ambulance was waiting for a ramp to lift. A train was crossing the bridge. However, Miroslav Nonin was eager to meet the world, the Fortress. An officer helped her mother to give birth to the child. Soon they moved to another place. Not very far from the Fortress. Actually, it was at the foot of the Fortress. Later, they moved to Liman city quarterst, yet to Nonin, the Fortress has remained an unavoidable place. The fact that he was born on the Fortress has never been considered to be a coincidence by Nonin himself. And he still believes that it was no coincidence at all that his father had remained on the Fortress, among his paintings, till the last moment. Because, life is transient, and what is eternal, are the works of art created on the Fortress, and what is permanent is the Fortress itself. |
