| Patience and time can transform mulberry leaves into silk. The patience and time of Nikola Popržan, as Maestro Antić used to say, can transform a common tin sheet into a miracle, into a strange world of imagination and the unreal, into airiness, into embroidery, into lacework made with a hammer: "Having measured the pulse of metal, of the obedient and excited heart of the casting, he compresses centuries into one single point, and this exactly, reflects the preciousness of his work. He subdues memories, the reality and contours of the future. He is a magician. A wizard. Yet still a simple man,one in love with the Danube, its banks and backwaters, in love with the Pannonian Plain, children, flowers and animals". He was in love with the Fortress. |
