Unreachability of the close sky, from a unique natural terrace, was a challenge for artists, in a line, along the vertical or some geometrical order. Great inspirations come from the Fortress, like ancient half-way marks towards endless distances and the horizon. Climbing the numberless stairs, from the stage of small, tiny events in the City, artists hurry to their studios.  There, they are ready, among other things, to feed ants as well, like Nikola Popržan did, and to watch grass for a long time, looking for a credo for its dignity, until they transform it into a symbol, like Miroslav Nastasijević did. In endless research of the truth and beauty of the region, they play mysterious games with things and phenomena in Vojvodinian nature. These relations and notions would cause the ships sailing along the Danube to stop, and a crucial question was: Does  the Academy of Vojvodina really need an Institute for understanding flowers... The studio of Milan Sapundžić, with the green painted door, got the name "Studio for Understanding Flowers". It was an honour to Sapundžić because the name is in accordance with the ancient view that flowers are the greatest treasure of the humanity, and that people and stars, with multi -flower fibers, are woven into a love unity, into new births and deaths, until they are reborn. It is clear to Milan Sapundžić that perennial plants have been and remained the most immediate edifier of good and hard times, a biological entity of a human generation and a pre-condition of organic eligibility of life, its cultural and ethical shape.  He believes that the permanent exhibition of flowers, as a variant of the future botanical garden at the Fortress, will one day become the soul and blood circulation system of Novi Sad, on the locality abundant with water, in Mt. Fruška Gora's plant nursery, a fertile alluvium and rich humus ground, with a beautiful endless view towards Bačka and Banat.
