| In one of the possible realities, the Fortress is an ornament of Novi Sad; a pearl sung about in songs, written about in books and safeguarded in thehearts of lovers, managers, robbers, snobs, good-natured fellows, craftsmen and artists. In the second of possible realities, the Fortress is a neglected poor creature, full of scattered plastic bottles, bags, papers, small and large pieces of broken glass and excrements. In the third of possible realities, it has been thrown down from the pedestal and its wonderful space crowded with a merry-go-round for whores and soldiers, a hotel for dogs, steel network of the cable-way intersecting the horizon. In each of these realities, Milan Trkulja sees less and less birds and animals; this year, he has not seen the American woodpecker and the squirrel, next year he will not see the blackbird or the cuckoo. However, Trkulja can also see the actual reality in which the Fortress is an oasis of peace, greenery and art. He can seein it a place of Understanding, Love and Creativity. |
